This June, take in 5 events for the whole family and explore arts classes for the kids. It's the perfect way to celebrate the return of the arts to Newburyport and support your local arts organizations that are still struggling to recover from the impact of Covid.

The Great Nitwitty Mystery

Boston's greatest comedic playwright brings a family friendly play that everyone will love to Newburyport.  Says Acting Out Owner Deirdre Budzyna:

"We all need to just relax, have fun and celebrate the return of theater.  Jack's plays are always wildly popular and this is his best yet."

Stories in the Garden

FREE

Gather at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge! We'll read lots of books geared toward kids ages 0-5, after which patrons are invited to do a craft and take a self-guided walk to see the animals at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. This story time takes place the second Wednesday of the month in June, July & August. You do not need to be a resident of Newburyport or a library card holder to participate.

Tween Reads

Tween Reads is a library book group just for middle schoolers who are in grades 5-8! We will meet the second Thursday of every month from 3:30-4:30pm in the Children's Activity Room. This month we're reading The Witch Boy Novel by Molly Ostertag. No registration required. All tweens are welcome.

Seussical the Musical

Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Best of all you can bring a picnic and enjoy it outside!

Family Film: Dog (PG 13)

FREE

Join us for our Movie Matinees on Wednesday afternoons featuring theater like screen and sound. This week we will be screening "Dog" (PG-13) starring Channing Tatum, Jane Adams, and Kevin Nash at 2:30 pm. Run time 1 hour 41 minutes. Two former Army Rangers are paired against their will on the road trip of a lifetime. Jackson Briggs and his dog Lulu (a Belgian Malinois) race down the Pacific Coast to get to a fellow soldier's funeral on time.

Ages 7-10: Tinkerhaus brings you Castle Creators, Starting June 20.

Start with an unfinished wooden play castle and turn it into a personalized original. Learn to make miniature furnishings, paint finishes, rugs and textiles. Imaginations will soar in this class taught by the very popular Erin Cotton, art teacher and yoga instructor.
