So you’ve checked out all our spooky arts and cultural events this October and decided to make a whole day or weekend of Halloween type adventures in Newburyport. What else can you do? Well, with all the historic houses and the creative community in town, local folks tend to believe in ghosts, connecting to the dead and psychic or intuitive readings/healings. Here’s just a sampling of what’s on offer.
Local favorite Madeline Sherwood offers sessions by appointment: 978.809.0901. She is an intuitive Reiki Master and uses Angel and Tarot cards as her oracle. Madeline has been studying the Tarot for over 15 years and also incorporates Reiki into her work as a cosmetologist.
As a young child I realized my sensitivity toward people's feelings. As I got older, messages came through in my dreams and I would have strong intuitive feelings or clairsentience.
Hosted three times a year (March, June and October), the next event is October 2 from 11:00-4:00 at the Elks Lodge in Newburyport, featuring psychic readers, tarot healers, jewelry and crystals. It’s the brainchild of psychic medium Gigi Bella Luce who owns The Enchanted Willow and Gigi’s Spiritual Awakenings.
Leeza Masia, a Tarot reader of 13 years, offers individual or group readings, Tarot classes and workshops.
Both local shops offer intuitive and card readings/healings, as well as healing gifts and books. Universal Visions also offers past life regressions and Shamanic healings.
If you like to mingle with witches, ghosts, vampires, and other Halloween type characters, then join them (and dress the part) on Friday, October 22 from 6:00-9:00PM in downtown Newburyport. The local one-of-a-kind merchants open their doors for shopping in this adult friendly event, and provide Halloween treats and more!
The Newburyport Arts Collective has gathered a list and made a map of all the reputed haunted places in town. There are four spooky spots walkable from downtown, or take a short ride to visit all eight.
