This October the Newburyport Arts Collective brings you over 20 fun, sweet-treat, and spooky events for both adults and kids, in a safe and friendly environment. From our hugely popular Maudslay is Haunted and Witches Night Out events, to Halloween crafts, scary theater and movies, kid's costumed dance parties, a chocolate tour-- even interactive workshops about tarot cards, forensic science and how to develop your psychic sense! Many are FREE!

This year’s event promises a spellbinding evening, featuring extended hours at local shops, so you can enjoy late-night shopping in your favorite costumes. Wander through downtown Newburyport and the Tannery, where the streets will come alive with witches and warlocks in their most creative attire. Delight in witchy-themed cocktails and exclusive specials at participating local shops and restaurants, adding an extra layer of fun to your night out.

THE ANNUAL CHOCOLATE TOUR

A sweet stroll with a purpose— The Chocolate Tour is a community-driven tasting experience through the charming streets of downtown Newburyport, with a second tour in Amesbury. Local shops serve up chocolate delights while you explore, shop, and support amazing causes. Even sweeter? MAKER MONDAY: Decorated Brooms

This month at the Newburyport Public Library we will be creating Decorated Brooms. Brooms are a common item associated with the spooky season and can add personal touch to your home as both decorations and in practical use. Starting with a hand held whisk broom, participants will add ribbon, crystals, and charms to create these beautiful, personalized works of art. Open to all, you do not need to be a member of the library or resident but must register. FREE!

TAROT TALK

Join Leeza Masia from The Tarot Collective for a Tarot Talk workshop at the Newburyport Public Library. We will talk about how tarot cards can be a wonderful tool for self-reflection & self-discovery, as well as intuitive development. Tarot reading encourages us to reflect on ideas that can help develop a sense of who we are and where we are on our life's journey.The workshop begins with a tarot-themed talk focused on the basics of a successful, safe reading & holding space for any questions new readers might have. Then, any attendees who would like to, are invited to pull their own cards in a group reading. Bring your own deck or borrow one to explore. CSI: An Introduction to Forensic Science

Step into the world of Crime Scene Investigation with this interactive program that introduces participants to the fascinating field of forensic science. Whether you’re a budding detective, a science enthusiast, or just curious about how real-life crime scenes are analyzed, this course is for you. Throughout the program, you’ll gain insight into: the day-to-day work of a forensic scientist including blood analysis techniques and what they reveal, the power of DNA evidence in criminal investigations, identifying suspects through fingerprint analysis, detecting gunshot residue, analyzing footwear impression, how tools like a metal detector and crime light assist in evidence collection. Get ready to examine evidence, solve puzzles, and uncover the science behind crime-solving! Instructor Paul Zambella was a forensic scientist at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory for 36 years and participated in more than 500 crime scene investigations.
