When the weather is this amazing, head outside for dozens of great outdoor arts and cultural events in Newburyport!

Newburyport is the perfect destination for outdoor arts and cultural events for the whole family. Pet a lama when the farm animals come to visit the library each summer, try your hand at birding, take an architectural tour through our historic federalist streets, or enjoy music, food and shopping at one of our many festivals. When you're done with your event, there is so much more of the outdoors to explore in this beautiful area: fish or swim on Plum Island, explore the extensive grounds of Maudsley State Park, stroll the newly renovated Newburyport water front with all its paths, play areas, swinging benches and seating areas.

Walking Tour: The Road to Revolution in downtown Newburyport

Museum of Old Newbury

Join noted author and historian Ghlee Woodworth, a 12th generation Newburyport native, for a Sunday morning stroll through downtown Newburyport. Visit the homes of Colonel Edward Wigglesworth, who fought at Fort Ticonderoga and Battle of Valcour, Captain Benjamin Perkins, who fought at Bunker Hill. Stand where the Declaration of Independance was read for the first time in Newburyport to an anxious and exited crowd.

Summer Solstice in the Cemetery: Evening Walk Through Oak Hill

Museum of Old Newbury

Join noted author and historian Ghlee Woodworth, a 12th generation Newburyport native, and Museum of Old Newbury executive director Bethany Groff Dorau for an evening stroll through the historic 1842 Oak Hill Cemetery, final resting place of shipwrecked sailors, sea captains and merchants, architects and photographers, writers and poets, silversmiths and newspaper editors, and adventurers who travelled to the California gold rush.

Stories in the Garden

Newburyport Public Library

Join us at the Parker River NWR Visitor Center for a children's story hour in the pollinator garden. Listen to stories then do a hands-on craft or take a self-guided walk to see the animals at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. The garden features a large stone seating area. Free and open to all.

Yankee Homecoming Brewfest

Brewfest will take place rain or shine at Cashman Park in Newburyport. Each year over 20 breweries attend, and tastings including, beer, cider and malt beverages. Tickets sell out fast!

Lawn Party with Henna

Newburyport Public Library

Stop by the Library lawn any time between 2 and 4 p.m. for games, snacks, and henna! Artist Mandy Roberge will be on hand to draw beautiful designs in temporary ink. Henna designs don't take long to draw but can last up to two weeks on your skin. This program is directed toward kids, tweens, and teens. Free and open to all.

Outdoor Sculpture Garden Exhibit

Newburyport Arts

This year, nine artists are exhibiting their sculptures as part of the Tenth Annual Outdoor Sculpture Garden Exhibition. Situated along the popular Newburyport Rail Trail, the yearly exhibition  is seen and visited by hundreds of people every week. The Sculpture Garden is free, and open to the public.
